MoreSaturday 30th. Assembles at 1.00 p.m. at the Parc-y-Fro Green and proceeds around the village to the Recreation field by 2.00 p.m. when the Carnival officially commences.
MoreDespite damp weather leading to a week's delay to the Fun Run, and drizzle for most of Carnival day itself, Carnival week was on the whole a big success!.
Creigiau Open Gardens was well attended, the King and Queen Disco a fun packed event, the Carnival Quiz held at the Creigiau Inn again well attended with participants giving generously, and the Fun Run held on the Sunday the day after the Carnival finally being bathed in sunshine (for a little while anyway!)
On Carnival day itself despite it being 'damp' a number of bright and colourful floats made up for the weather. As usual no expense had been spared and the 2011 theme, 'Britain through the Ages' provided ample opportunity to celebrate our nation's history.
As usual the procession was headed by Samba Galles, followed by a vintage fire engine , the King and Queen and a number of noisy and colourful floats assembled at 1.00 p.m. at the Parc-y-Fro Green and proceeded around the village towards the Recreation field. On the field, there was something for all ages -games and side shows, 5-a-side football, cricket, coconut shy, bouncy castle, roundabout, and a variety of stalls selling such things as plants, books, cards, bottles, skin products, cakes, etc., refreshments included a beer tent, barbecue, Pimms, teas, coffees, cakes, ice creams and candy floss.
Below you will see a selection of photographs from the day!
You will also see links to photos of previous Carnivals, and we hope to add to these.
Don't forget this year's Carnival and its theme of TV Commercials being held on June 30th 2012- see other pages for details.
