Carnival Day has become a long established tradition as one of the highlights of village life in Creigiau. It is organised by a small committee of volunteers – people who live in the village, along with representation from Creigiau 23, and C.R.A.M.C. (Creigiau Recreation Area Management Committee).

Carnival Week 2010

Please make a note in your diaries of this year’s Carnival week and the day itself – it is the main event in the year that unites our community and should not be missed! To make the day a success, the Carnival Committee hopes you can help or join in with the following:

The Carnival Procession: The theme this year is “ The World Cup” and we are hoping for some colourful and noisy floats to celebrate the biggest sporting event in the World.

Children can dress up in imaginative costumes to take part in the Fancy Dress Competition. There will be individual and group prizes for the best fancy dress.

To register your float, please watch out for entry slips in your children’s school bag, or alternatively e-mail Chris Jones by 31^st May 2010

Fun Run: Start training now in preparation for the Fun Run to be held at 10.30 a.m. on Saturday 19th June 2010 at the Recreation Ground! There are separate categories for the nursery, infants, juniors, teenagers and adults - from one to three laps around the field. Come and cheer on those brave enough to take part! (We hope to get even more Dads entering this year!!)

Carnival Disco: Monday 21^st June 2010 from 6.30 – 8.00 p.m. in Creigiau Church Hall where the Carnival King & Queen and Attendants will be chosen from names pulled out of a hat.

Carnival Quiz: Creigiau Inn on Tuesday 22^nd June 2010 at 8.00 p.m.

Carnival Day: A procession of floats, headed by Samba Galles, assembles at 1.00 p.m. at the Parc-y-Fro Green and proceeds around the village to the Recreation field by 2.00 p.m. when the Carnival officially commences, opened by a local celebrity or dignitary. On the field, there is something for all ages –games & side shows, 5-a-side football, Slide-a-hockey, cricket, coconut shy, bouncy castle, roundabout, and a variety of stalls selling such things as plants, books, cards, bottles, skin products, cakes, etc., refreshments including a beer tent, barbecue, teas, coffees, cakes, ice creams & candy floss. This year, we have special attractions such as an Owl Show, and “Zoo to You” from Bristol Zoo Gardens.
